In September 2012, Groupon Grassroots posted a campaign to support anti-poaching efforts in the current ongoing crisis of rhino poaching. Your support in this campaign was significant and it enabled us to work on and help protect 3 rhino in the North West Parks.

Here is where your donations went:

Having teamed up with Groupon Grassroots, 1%4 Wildlife is dedicated in its efforts to save the rhino. With just a R15 donation, this campaign can carry out the capture of rhinos using a team of scientists, helicopter pilots and veterinarians. Once captured, GPS micro-chips are placed into the rhino horn, DNA samples are taken, ears are notched for ID purposes and vital statistics are taken.  Poachers know that a rhino with a notched ear has been ID’d, DNA sampled and GPS chipped, hopefully dissuading them from hurting these magnificent beasts. Some arrests have even been directly due to linking the poacher with the actual rhino through this DNA identification process.  Your R15 contribution can result in saving one animal at a time or at least sentence poachers.
