The Lodge
A beautiful retreat cosily situated in the peaceful southern Cederberg Mountain, the Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve is far away from modern day stresses in an untouched natural setting. As a land once home to the Bushman, many of their ancient cave paintings are still clearly visible on the rocks in spiritual scenery that offers majestic mountains, strange and beautiful rock formations and a clear night sky filled with billions of stars and the rest of the Milky Way. Where shooting stars may be a rarity in the city, under the brilliant Kagga Kamma night sky genies will rethink their purpose. The all-inclusive package includes two activities and three scrumptious meals per day. Choose from activities like a rock painting tour, game viewing drive or night drive, or stargazing at the mini observatory.
The Surroundings
Ceres plays host to an array of fun activities and beautiful sights, for both young and old. Take a step back into time by exploring the areas extensive rock art. Scattered all over Kagga Kamma you'll find ancient Bushmen living sites. Their expert rangers will interpret the Bushmen paintings for you on the guided tours and walks, with some of the paintings being up to 6000 years old, as well as explain the Bushmen’s fascinating culture, you can also opt to discover paintings on your own on some of our self-guided hiking trails. Enjoy an eye-opening game drive on the arid reserve, which is situated partly inside the Ceres Karoo, the area of South Africa with the lowest annual rainfall. Qualified guides will take you on a sundowner drive to have drinks with breath-taking views over the Ceres Karoo and Cederberg. Gaze at Black Wildebeest, ostrich, zebra, springbok, red hartebeest, bontebok, gemsbok and other antelope species including the huge eland. If you are lucky you might see some lynx, black- backed jackal or even the elusive Cape mountain leopard.
