When one thinks of the Mediterranean they picture beautiful white washed houses set atop a hill with colourful fishing boats bobbing in the water below. But what about the food being eaten in those houses and the ingredients caught by those boats? At Saul’s Taverna, the emphasis is on the delicious food of the Med with an African touch. Savour the best of the Med and Africa with a two course menu for two and two cocktails.
The plates at Saul’s Taverna are filled with authentic flavours while the walls are filled with traditional flair. Start the evening with two Italian Campari cocktails and begin your journey of flavour with a Greek Meze platter. This includes a selection of med style dips and garlic pita- a necessity for all those who say they’ve visited the Mediterranean. If you haven’t had the garlic pita at Sauls’s you haven’t had garlic pita.
The second course consists of rump and chicken espatadas dripping with garlic butter which is affectionately served with the freshest roast vegetables, and golden potato wedges. Even though the Saul’s Taverna is Mediterranean, we can’t promise you won’t be asked to leave for throwing the plates against the wall. Be warned though that after tasting the delicious food you’ll definitely be tempted to toss your plate in celebration.
Greek fact: The popular Greek dish, Dolmadas, is mince and rice wrapped in vine leaves. Greek people in Canada replace the vine leaves with Maple leaves, put chocolate inside and drizzle maple syrup over the top.
