It’s a common law of restaurant nature that if the food is amazing, the service must be sloppy, amazing service goes with a view of a construction site and if the view is great it’s probably to distract you from looking too closely at the food on your plate. However today’s deal proves this law wrong in every way possible. Dine in elegance while enjoying a spectacular view and a mouth-watering truffle steak served by top-notch waiters at Blues Restaurant for R230
Prepared by executive Chef Morné Botha, the truffle fillet steak is prepared to absolute perfection and presented in a way that’ll have you thinking frames and mantelpieces. The scrumptious steak is garnished with truffle shavings and sautéed potatoes and served with confit of field mushroom filled with mushroom duxelle and a glass of wine.
Inspired by his Ouma’s warm and hearty cooking as well as international culinary techniques, Morné describes his cuisine as, “Consumable artworks that I create to provide a sensory experience that not only stimulates the taste buds, but also tantalises the mind.” Undercover Groupies on the other hand describe it as ‘food as consistently yum as the view is breathtaking’.
Located on the first floor, it’s almost like looking down on Camp’s Bay beach from heaven’s pearly white clouds or rather a crisp white table-for-two. Boasting various chic yet relaxed dining areas, dining at Blues is an entirely different experience every time you choose to swing by. With the ever-changing lighting of Mother Nature’s 10,000 watt light bulb it’s tempting to return every hour to experience the changed ambience. Sit out on the deck with the sunset reflecting in your glass and clink to health, happiness and the poor jealous guy down on the street. On a next occasion sit inside where views are no less stunning than outside yet is perfect for when the Camp’s Bay breeze turns hurricane.
Ocean fact: Obviously Denver is miles away from the Atlantic. Intruiged by the idea of dining with an ocean view, Dorka Bloom decided to open a restaurant with a view of the ocean. The restaurant only served prawns and the windows are covered in enormous ocean posters. Denver citizens can now dine while surrounded by spectacular views of Bloubergstrand, Florida beach, the coral reef and the Dead Sea.
