Widely recognised as the ultimate adventure, the PADI Advanced Open Water Course is your ticket to getting the most out of your undersea shenanigans. Though they say that not even being allowed to hold the stop-sign at road-works or drinking an ice cold glass of water right after eating ice-cream is more exciting than your first time underwater, the Advanced Open Water Course doesn’t include that particular excitement – if you’re trying for an advanced course, you should have the basics covered already. If the need the basics covered then try the Discover Scuba course, sure to feeling less like a fish out of water, in the water.
The advanced course fine-tunes your diving skills and allows you to explore some of the more exciting bits of diving by giving you a structured program to gain additional experience and skills under the direct guidance of a PADI professional. To receive your certification and be eligible to move on to even more advanced diving, the in-water performance-based program requires a total of five dives, ranging from Altitude Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy and Search and Recovery Diving. In fact, there are a grocery list of dives that you can choose from to indulge your sense of adventure.
Poseidon Fact: The first scuba diver to dive in the Atlantic Ocean was recently immortalised with a statue raised on the northern banks of Lake Malaui. The statue depicts his history-making discovery of a piece of Haley’s Comet inside the wreck of a sunken pirate ship.
