- Donate R15 to For Wildlife to help save the rhino from extinction
- Donation will go towards a device that will alert response teams as a poaching incident happens, enabling criminal poaching syndicates to be brought down
- 1004 rhinos poached in 2013 and another 294 rhinos have been poached so far this year
In September 2012, Groupon Grassroots posted a campaign to support anti-poaching efforts in the ongoing rhino poaching crisis. Your support in this campaign was significant and it enabled us to work on and help protect three rhino in the North West Parks.
This is what we managed to do with the money raised in the last campaign:
For Wildlife has been involved in a new initiative which will hopefully enable a brand new device to be used in the field very soon to aid in anti-poaching efforts. The device will alert response teams as soon as a poaching incident happens, helping to bring down criminal poaching syndicates.
Currently the device is ready for testing and we are trying to raise funds to enable a comprehensive testing process, after which the device will be rolled out commercially across Southern Africa.
It will cost about R15 000 to have the device tested on one rhino and we are hoping to raise funds towards the possible testing of the device in as many rhino as we can afford initially. The funds will go towards the veterinarian costs, helicopter costs and device costs per animal. Your R15 contribution can result in saving one animal at a time or at least sentence poachers and curb their activity.
