At the South African Kendo Federation, trained senseis oversee participants’ training in the ancient martial art of Kendo; a form of Japanese sword fighting. The course is aimed at honing self-discipline, developing confidence and learning how to defeat Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 3. Though originating as a form of combat, kendo's modern principles focus on respect for others and protection of the weak.

The three-month course involves three sessions per week where sword-wielders will focus minds on the Kendo philosophy to bring pupils closer to the purity of heart. Groupies may decide which dojo to attend, where students will be taught the foundational techniques of the ancient martial art form and get to grips with swords, all under the watchful guidance of expert instructors.
