There are certain things that are far better when seen in person, like frolicking unicorns or seeing someone fit an entire bag of marshmallows in their mouth. Revel in some floor-shaking bass without worrying about blowing your car’s speakers and see why any music is always better live with an entrance ticket for Haezer and Friends at Springbok Pub for R20.

With a bass-line that kicks like an angry mule and beats that some people would describe as sick, while gesturing emphatically, Haezer is practically one of South Africa’s electro-punk royalty. The best thing to come out of Cape Town since slang words for everything, Haezer has played every major South African music-festival and toured all the cool parts of the globe. Taking to Springbok Pub’s stage with a line-up of other must-hear musical geniuses like Enough Weapons, Riot Squad, Johnny 12 Inch and Futeks, the 13 of August promises to be a night of magical aural mayhem.

While actual concert venues are built for massive crowds, sometimes you don’t want to be more crushed than a commuter on a busy train while you’re trying to enjoy an evening of electro-punk. Right in the heart of Stellenbosch, Springbok Pub offers the perfect alternative – the cosy atmosphere of a neighbourhood pub combined with stage and surround-sound. Some places are designed to be the first place you go when you start off an evening. Other places, like Springbok Pub are the type of places you go when you’re imitating an electro-pop dance hit and not going home till the sun comes up. Whether you’re the get up and dance type, or the type that just chills outside on the balcony, Springbok Pub has got an area for you – well, they have three and a balcony. It would be called Stellenbosch’s best-kept secret if it wasn’t the go-to party place to meet new people.

It’s Not Our Fault at Springbok Pub will please both hard-core Haezer fans and newcomers to the electro-scene. Even if you’re just there for the social atmosphere that comes with spending an evening in a pub full of people dancing with glow-sticks, Saturday the 13th promises to be a better way to experience live electro than blowing out your sub-woofers.

Musical Fact: Electronica was first invented by a little-known band called Origami Panthers in the 1970s. When trying to decide on a gimmick for their first vinyl, the decided to record a selection of random noises from objects like telephones, switchboards and hairdryers and create a song. Unfortunately, the style of music became popular, but the band did not.
