What to do in Tzaneen
Tzaneen lies at the foot of the northern Drakensberg Mountains in the heart of a forestry area and in South Africa's richest sub-tropical fruit-farming region. There are many tourist attractions nearby, including the beautiful Tzaneen Dam, Magoebaskloof, Haenertsburg, and the Pekoe View Tea Estate. The town is also situated close to a number of game reserves. The Kruger National Park, for instance, is about 100 kilometres away. Visit prehistoric cycads in the Modjadji Nature Reserve and the world’s biggest Baobab in Sunland nursery, believed to be 6 000 years old. Enjoy a scenic drive up into the mountains to Magoebaskloof, the tea plantations, George’s valley, and the town of Haenertsburg along the Great Letaba River and the Wood bush drive, which is the largest indigenous forest in the province.
