What to do in the Drakensberg
A popular reason for visiting the Drakensberg is walking and hiking. Royal Natal National Park offers some of the most amazing mountain scenery in South Africa. The main feature is the world famous Amphitheatre, a rock wall about five kilometres in length, and 500 metres high. Thukela River cascades down the face of the amphitheatre, in one of the highest waterfalls in the world. The Drakensberg also boast a number of world class golf courses, with over 20 popular golf clubs, including the Champagne Sports Resort Golf Course, rated in the top five 19th’s holes in SA. Fishing is amazing in the berg as there is an abundance of trout and bass fishing. The berg is riddled with rivers and fresh water dams making it perfect for fly-fishing. The area contains both brown and rainbow trout which reach good sizes. The rivers and dams are well stocked with breeds that prove to have quite a feisty spirit.
