What to do in Jacobsbaai
Year-round sunshine, sparkling waters and reliable winds make the West Coast a desirable destination for watersport enthusiasts, beach-lovers, and city-slickers looking to escape their metropolitan lives for a couple of nights. Jacobsbaai itself is a nature lover’s paradise, with a two-kilometre stretch of beach and seafront, dotted with cosy bays and rocky outlets. As is the case with the West Coast and Namaqualand, Jacobsbaai bursts into colour each spring with wild flowers that bloom and cater to memorable photo opportunities. The West Coast National Park brings its own flavour to the wildlife of Africa, providing visitors with the chance to spot the “Slow Five” – tortoises, whales, sand sharks, porcupines and dune moles. The Langebaan Lagoon, which lies nearby, is a popular location for water-skiing, jet-skiing and paragliding, while golf-lovers can find three courses within a 15-kilometre radius of the Beach Lodge.
