More About Agri Mega Week
Originating from a farmer’s day which was started in 1992 by pioneer local farmer Niel Giliomee, the annual Agri Mega Week has been taking place in its current format since 2003, swiftly becoming the biggest expo of its kind.
Boasting farm stalls where visitors can stock up on fresh produce, the expo offers interactive work sessions for producers focussing on small grain, dairy, livestock and the wool industries, livestock breeds exhibition, implements, vehicles, equipment and general consumer exhibitions. Ladies can be entertained by the wit and know-how of Heleen Meyer, Sylvia Walker, Irma Joubert, Sarah Theron and Sarel van Sabie, while visitors can tuck into local cuisine at the Steakhouse and Bar, various food stalls, coffee shops and take-away outlets.
Taking place at Mega Park, with the Santam Agriculture Auditorium, the 6 000m² BKB-Livestock Centre and the Total SA Exhibition Centre - a feast for the eye with well-tended lawns, gardens and amenities. Special programmes and exhibitions for ladies, educational programmes for learners, Agricultural Youth leaders’ conference and a Farm Playground where kids can ride the rocking horses, crawl and climb the Jungle Gym or play “farm” in the sandpit.
